Taken July 29 These are SMART pups, they love the
outdoors! Have pretty much learned to navigate the stairs
and DEMAND to be outside every day!

Open house was great, I always enjoy putting a
face to the voices on the phone! The rain held off until the last family
left.
There are a few folks that live out of state
or had other commitments, we sure missed you.
Those of you I did meet I am happy to say you all will make great puppy
parents!
These are definitely 'lucky dogs'!
It is the PERFECT way to begin an enduring
relationship with all of you. Thanks you so much for
participating.

July 3, 2008

As you can see, eyes are
open. They are playing now in 'slo-mo' and starting to toddle
around. By early next week we will remove the whelping box and
they will start 'paper training'. We will check them for teeth. Once
teeth start coming through we will begin the weaning process...Mom
will come out of the puppy pen and 'visit' 3 times a day to nurse
them. At the same time we will introduce puppy food. After 3 days we
will cut it down to 2 times a day for 2 days...then 1 time a day for
2 days. The plan is by 5 weeks they will be weaned and on
softened food.
We also begin their health
work, beginning with their first worming at 5 weeks.
Weaning is a stressful time
for the puppies. After their dam is done with her gradual
reduction of nursing, they will not see her again. When you come for
your puppy visit Blaize will not be let out into the yard to visit
with the families. If the pups see her or even smell her, they
start crying....if they do not see or smell her, they are perfectly
fine.
I am going out of town from
the 10th to the 18th of July. I will post pictures again
before I leave.
